The MPS Organ Site was founded on March 3, 2013, with the main goal of its founder Michael P. Schmidt (MPS) being the distribution and promotion of the free virtual organ software GrandOrgue. In the first few years, he made some larger virtual Hauptwerk organs (sample sets) usable for the GrandOrgue software by programming so-called organ definition files (ODF). Until then, there were only very few, very small organ sample sets available. These ODFs were made available free of charge in the download area of the MPS organ page. Gradually, a few more programmers joined us, who are still creating such ODFs and uploading them here for the GO community.
We now have over 3700 registered members. Most of them use these free download offers. However, many of the members are also always active in our forum and thus promote the exchange and assistance not only on topics about GrandOrgue, but in all areas relating to real and virtual organs and organ playing, as well as other topics that concern organists.
Many thanks to all our loyal members and supporters!
